Thanks for your interest in volunteering with the Gift of Life Foundation. Our volunteers are an important part of the work that we do. Since 1988 GOL has worked to lower the infant mortality rate in Montgomery County through evidenced-based home visitation and support programs that help women have healthier pregnancies; teach moms and dads effective parenting skills and the tools needed to build strong families. Volunteers like you help us advance this important work.
Benefits of Volunteering with Gift of Life
Volunteering with GOL not only helps us meet the needs of at-risk families in our community, but offers benefits for you, the volunteer. As a GOL volunteer you will:
Gain a deeper understanding of the problem of infant mortality, its causes and effects, and the work GOL is doing through its family coaching programs
Further GOL’s impact in the community
Provide support for the women and children enrolled in our programs
Build upon skills you already have and use them to benefit at-risk women and their children
Volunteer Opportunities
Though we encourage lasting partnerships with our volunteers, we understand that personal and professional commitments may prevent a volunteer making a monthly service commitment. We offer a variety of ongoing, short-term, recurring or one-time projects based on your interests. Some of them include:
Setting up/taking down displays and helping at community outreach events (During the week & some weekends/ 4-5 times per year)
Compiling client binders, labeling brochures and light administrative work in the GOL office (1-2 days a week)
Creating charts, making copies for program staff, preparing mailers in the GOL office (1-2 days a week)
Packaging and wrapping incentives for client gift (Seasonal- Fall)
Wrapping toys and books for Gifting Program (Seasonal-Winter)
Organizing diaper and baby wipe drives
