Dr. Regina Traylor, Executive Director
Veteran maternal child health administrator Dr. Regina Traylor, DHSc is the executive director for the Gift of Life Foundation (GOL), a leading provider of maternal-child health services in six Central Alabama counties.
Under her leadership, GOL was awarded nearly $5 million by the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration; expanded its services to include infant and early childhood mental health consulting; added a licensed clinical provider and furthered the foundation’s impact by increasing outreach, cultivating new referral sources, and broadening community partnerships.
Dr. Traylor has more than two decades of leadership in public health nursing, maternal child health program management, quality improvement, program evaluation and nursing education programs.
Prior to coming to Gift of Life in July 2018, Dr. Traylor served as the director of the Maternal Child Health Division at the Ingham County Health Department in Lansing, Michigan.
In that role, she provided administrative oversight for a number of programs including the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), to Children’s Special Health Care Services, home visiting programs, and hearing and vision programs in public schools.
Dr. Traylor has also held several academic positions, which included director of student support services at Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Nursing and as a member of its nursing faculty. In addition, she served as a clinical nurse specialist and education specialist for Allegiance Health.
Dr. Traylor is originally from Montgomery, AL. and holds a bachelor’s in registered nursing from the University of Alabama Birmingham, a master’s in nursing from Troy State University Montgomery, and a doctorate in health science from Nova Southeastern University.
She and her husband James Traylor are the proud parents of four children.
