The Alabama Department of Public Health, The Gift of Life Foundation, Birmingham Healthy Start and March of Dimes are partnering to present the 2nd Annual State of Infant Mortality in Alabama Summit: "Community Interventions Combating Infant Mortality” on September 26-27,2019 at the Marriott Prattville Hotel and Conference Center at Capitol Hill in Prattville, AL.
The two-day conference is geared toward health and social service providers, health advocates, community leaders, Healthy Start program participants and anyone who has an interest in creating healthier communities.
Thursday, September 26 @ 12:30-4 p.m. -"The Groundwater Approach" presented by the Racial Equity Institute In the half-day Groundwater Approach workshop, trainers use data and stories from a variety of sources to demonstrate the ongoing and pervasive impact of race in health disparity.
Friday, September 27 @ 8 a.m.-4 p.m.- "Community Interventions to Combatting Infant Mortality" Plenary and breakout sessions focused on equity, breastfeeding, mental health and more. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Renee Canady, PhD, MPA Chief Executive Officer, Michigan Public Health Institute.
THE COST OF THE CONFERENCE IS $40 AND REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND. CEUs will be provided to social workers and nurses. Certificates of attendance will be available for those requiring proof of attendance at the end of the event.
THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER AND PAY IS SEPTEMBER 13, 2019. No registration or payments will be taken at the conference. No cash will be accepted. There is one ticket per person/registration, and the cost for the conference is non-refundable.
