Cultural Awareness of Domestic Violence Workshop

The River Region Community Action Team, Gift of Life Foundation and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence and presenting the workshop "Cultural Awareness of the Dynamics of Domestic Violence" on October 24, 2019, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the auditorium of Trenholm State Community College’s Troy Highway Campus.

Morning Presenter: Retired Lt. Steve Searcy, Law Enforcement Training Coordinator, Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence will present the workshops “Dynamics of Domestic Violence” and “Cultural Awareness of DV”.

Afternoon Presenters: Brittany Warren, Victim Advocate from One Place Family Justice Center will present on “Creating a Safety Plan” and motivational speaker and DV survivor T’Sharin Moncrief will speak on her experiences as a victim of domestic violence and how her journey inspired her to create Women of Refined Gold, Inc., which connects DV victims to community resources and other supports.

The cost of the conference is $25 and includes lunch and social work and nursing CEUs. Seating is limited to the first 150 registered participants and is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis until all available seats are exhausted.
