WHO WE ARE (our mission)
Since 1988, Gift of Life Foundation (GOL) has been working to decrease infant mortality in Montgomery County through programs that empower women to reduce the challenges they face that threaten their health and prevent a healthy birth outcome. Our parent educators, mobile family coaches and registered nurses work with first-time and parenting moms and dads to develop effective parenting skills and connect them to community resources that help them increase self-sufficiency.
WHO WE SERVE
Gift of Life serves women, infants and children in Montgomery County who are at a greater risk for infant mortality. We help our program participants reduce barriers to success, many of which are related to economic, social and health disparities. Reducing those challenges helps children survive infancy, lower complications related to low birth weight and decrease child abuse and neglect.
WHAT WE DO
GOL offers programs that are designed to meet the unique needs of families. All our programs are voluntary and are offered at no cost. They include:
Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) - A home visitation program for first-time moms that offers a free, personal nurse that gives support, advice and information to increase her success.
Parents as Teachers (PAT) - A home visitation program for first time or expectant parenting moms and dads that helps them develop effective parenting skills and encourages the emotional, social and physical well-being of baby and family.
Mobile Family Coaching (MFC) - An innovative program for busy moms who prefer coaching via text, social media, and other electronic forms, coupled with some home visits.
Fathers in Action - A new initiative which seeks to improve the well-being of children through the promotion of responsible and involved fathers.
